One Child in the Zone

Impermanence in the Zone

In the Zone where the two worlds overlap, the tidal zone, nothing is permanent.

We Are Footsteps in the Sand

Turtle Haiku

Continuing with the theme of crossing between worlds.   We went to a restaurant on the beach at night where baby turtles were hatching and making their way down to the sea.

To where two worlds touch.

Photo Poems – Rumi

Recently when I was in Puerto Vallarta for a wedding I gave myself the task of creating poems about my images either in the style of Rumi or in a Haiku.  The first day alone on the beach Rumi’s poem “Don’t Go Back to Sleep” came to me very strongly.

I related it to the parasailers taking off for a different world in the sky.  Seeing all the possibilities of other worlds on that beach became a Giant Whoosh of creativity.  The Earth and the Sky.  The Beach and the Sea.  What happens at the intersection where the two worlds touch? Nothing is permanent.

Don’t Go Back to Sleep

The Breeze at dawn has secrets to tell
Don’t go back to sleep

You must ask for what you really want.
Don’t go back to sleep.

People are going back and forth across the door sill
where the two worlds touch.
The door is round and open.
Don’t go back to sleep.

Back from Connecticut

I just got back from a trip to the east coast to meet Katie’s parents.

What a lovely family!  It was an auspicious beginning.

Meet the parents

Flying into the night

Flying back to DC for my god daughter’s wedding I was glued to the window watching the breadth of the sunset

as we flew into the night.  At this altitude you can see for hours.

Autumn Full Moon

Well, I have to admit it was a year ago.  But it could have been last night!
